
Grant Miller

District 24
Grant Amjad Miller is the State Representative for House District 24 and serves on the Judiciary and Economic Development Committees. He works as a public defender, working as a court appointed trial lawyer for the indigent.
He is Palestinian-American and his family moved to Utah when he was a year old. He is a Utah native, who attended Jordan High School, Snow College, and later earned his law degree from the SJ Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, where he served as President of the Student Bar Association. Recognized for his dedication to volunteer service, he was awarded the Pro Bono Initiative’s Certificate of Service for 2016-2017. He graduated in 2017, delivering the student address at the commencement ceremony, and was admitted to the Utah State Bar.

In addition to his legal practice, Representative Miller is an active leader in the legal community. He is the served as president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Utah State Bar and represented Utah at the American Bar Association YLD House of Delegates. He is a former director of the Wills for Heroes program in Utah and a volunteer expert at Salt Lake County’s Expungement Day. He also served as a mainstay volunteer attorney at the Pro Bono Initiative’s expungement clinic and is a board member of the SJ Quinney College of Law Young Alumni Association. In 2023, Utah Business Magazine Recognized him as one of their “40 Under 40” Honorees.

Before pursuing a career in law, Representative Miller was a professional trombonist and a touring and studio musician. He began by playing with local ska bands and later joined the indie-folk group L’anarchiste, which garnered mainstream critical acclaim from NPR’s Weekend Edition, The Wall Street Journal, and Paste Magazine. The band was named City Weekly’s “Band of the Year” in 2013.
