Mark A. Wheatley
District 35
Mark A. Wheatley has been dedicated to serving the constituents of District 35, encompassing Murray, Millcreek, and select areas of Taylorsville, since 2004. A distinguished alumnus of Westminster College, he was honored with recognition in 2007. Currently, Representative Wheatley serves on the board of directors for Hispanics Enjoying Camping, Hunting, and the Outdoors (HECHO). He has also been an active member of the Executive Committee of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators. Notably, Representative Wheatley has received the Cesar Chavez Peace and Justice Award from the Utah Coalition of La Raza and a special recognition award from Centro de La Familia. His extensive involvement includes contributions to the Governors' Hispanic Advisory Council, Hispanic American Festival, Mexican Civic Center, SOMOS President, U.S. West Cooperation, National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers, and the Board of Hispanic Caucus Chairs.

Representative Wheatley is deeply passionate about addressing the challenges of alcoholism and addiction, and he has successfully secured one million dollars in funding for the Alano Club. This facility plays a vital role in providing information and support for individuals in recovery from addiction and alcoholism, along with their families, in a nurturing and sober environment.

Representative Wheatley has been happily married to Josie Valdez for 32 years, and they cherish their shared interest in traveling during their leisure time. They are proud parents to two sons, Mark and Carlos, and delighted grandparents to four wonderful grandchildren, with an additional great-grandchild adding to their joy.
