Utah House Democratic Caucus on H.B. 267 Public Sector Labor Union Amendments

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah House Democratic Caucus released the following statement on H.B. 267 Public Sector Labor Union Amendments.

"We are disappointed that H.B. 267, Public Sector Labor Union Amendments, was passed on the House floor despite bipartisan opposition and widespread criticism from constituents.

This legislation directly contradicts Utah's commitment to supporting our education professionals, public safety officers, and public service employees. By eliminating unions' ability to negotiate fair compensation, the bill threatens the livelihoods of thousands of working families. It also exacerbates the growing challenge of filling critical public sector vacancies in education, public safety, and city management.

Utah's 3.4 million residents rely on the dedication and service of public employees every day. Instead of undermining their ability to advocate for fair wages and better working conditions, we should focus on empowering and investing in them. Their success is essential to building stronger communities and a brighter future for all Utahns.

The passage of H.B. 267 does a disservice to our hardworking public educators, employees, and the families they serve. We stand united for those who tirelessly serve our state and commit to ensuring a bright future for all Utah families."
