Utah House Democratic Leader Angela Romero on the U.S. Supreme Court’s Refusal to Hear Utah’s Public Lands Challenge

SALT LAKE CITY—Utah House Democratic Leader Angela Romero released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court's Refusal to Hear Utah's Public Land Challenger

We are grateful for the U.S. Supreme Court’s refusal to hear Utah’s challenge to the federal

government’s authority over public lands. This decision is a win for all Americans and the

protection of our environment.

Today’s actions serve as an important reminder that our public lands should not be privatized or

exploited for short-term benefits. While Utah attempted to take control of millions of acres of

public land, the Court’s refusal to hear the lawsuit affirmed that the federal government has the

responsibility to manage these lands in a way that benefits everyone.

The Utah House Democratic Caucus remains committed to protecting public lands from efforts

to undermine their environmental, economic, and cultural value. These lands are a national

treasure, and we will continue to fight to keep them safe, accessible, and preserved for future

generations.
